LOS GUARDAVIÑAS
Our proposal for the CONCÊNTRICO festival was about redesigning the guardaviñas, an old vernacular building typology from La Rioja region.
Exploring the possibilities of plywood we conceived an ephemeral and nomadic structure, of easy assembly.
At a junction between paths we proposed three small shelters, inviting the viñateros to experience a communal gathering, while at the same time offering the possibility of a lonely contemplation of the immense vineyard landscape.
The shape and its joints function as a fabric, suggesting a temporary campsite. The walls show fluid curves and the pieces are stitched together using rope.
Each structure has a slightly different shape, created by the different plywood kerf bends.
The outer surfaces are treated for protection against the elements, acquiring a dark, almost wine like color, contrasting with the cozy wooden interior.
